Experience

(EXP) is gained by defeating other Pokemon; once your Pokemon has enough experience it may level up at the cost of some Pokedollars (5 x (Pokemon's Level + 1) = money needed), depending on the level. Sam is using a simple formula to determine how much experience is need to level up:

Exp = Level 3

Shiny Pokemon gain 150% EXP compared to normal Pokemon so they level up faster.

Shadow Pokemon used to gain 50% EXP compared to normal Pokemon so they leveled up slower. As of v 5.6, they gain the same amount of EXP as normal pokemon.
